Photo Journal: Snow no show

A serious snow shortage due to the warm winter has been plaguing ski resorts across Japan ahead of the winter holiday peak season. The Oze Iwakura ski ground opened for the season on Dec. 19, one week later than originally scheduled. While all 16 slopes are normally skiable in late December, this winter has seen only an artificial snow-filled slope available to skiers and snowboarders. "We are counting on the cold spell coming over the weekend (to bring snow to this area)," said an official of the ski resort. (Mainichi)
