This year not only marked the 20th anniversary of the event, but also the first time the exhibition included a specialized virtual reality (VR) section. This year, Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC unveiled its new Playstation VR headset display, set to be released on Oct. 13, and games made for the new VR system, including the newest installment of the popular horror game Resident Evil. This year boasts the highest number of industry participants yet, with 614 companies and 1,523 items, 110 of which employ VR, and the event is expected to attract 230,000 visitors. The show is open to the public Sept. 17 and 18 and general admission costs 1,200 yen for middle school students and above and is free for children of elementary school age and younger. (Mainichi)
