Three-time Olympic wrestling champion Saori Yoshida said on Sept. 20 that she will continue competing with a goal to participate in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
"The Olympics will come to Tokyo and people can watch the Games live. I want to work toward being able to move people (through sports) and giving them courage," the 33-year-old Rio Olympics silver medalist said at an event in Tokyo.
Yoshida has been silent about her future plans after losing in the wrestling freestyle 53-kilogram gold medal match in Rio -- what could have been her fourth consecutive Olympic gold.
She also suggested that she would accept an offer to serve as the coach for Japan's women's team, saying, "I think I'll be able to compete in Tokyo if I train with younger wrestlers and keep winning."
