A five-story storehouse at Kumamoto Castle is seen under repair in Kumamoto's Chuo Ward on Oct. 4, 2016, nearly six months after deadly earthquakes hit the southwestern prefecture. Kumamoto Castle is one of the main tourist attractions in Kumamoto Prefecture, with 1.77 million visitors in fiscal 2015. However, it was heavily damaged by the Kumamoto Earthquake in April. According to a Kumamoto Municipal Government estimate, the disaster did some 63.4 billion yen in damage to the castle, and it is expected to take some 20 years to completely repair. Some areas of the castle are now open to the public, and volunteer guides give tours. (Mainichi)
