Photo Journal: Wheel deal

A single-seat, three-wheel car being used in a car-sharing experiment is pictured in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward on the morning of Dec. 20, 2016. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism the same day launched a social experiment in which a section of National Route 1 in the Marunouchi district of Tokyo will be utilized as a car-sharing station. According to the ministry, it is the first car-sharing venture using part of a public road as a parking space. The experiment, in which parking facility operator Park24 Co. is taking part, will run for about one year. There are 88 other existing stations in Tokyo, and people will be able to drop shared vehicles off at any of those stations with a reservation. The station set up this time is near JR Tokyo Station and Otemachi subway station. (Mainichi)
