M5.6 quake jolts Fukushima Pref.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck Fukushima Prefecture in Japan's northeast early Saturday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. No tsunami warning was issued.

    The 5:08 a.m. temblor, which originated at a depth of about 20 kilometers off the coast of Fukushima, registered 4 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 in the city of Iwaki.

    Fukushima was hard hit by the March 11, 2011 earthquake-tsunami and nuclear crisis.
