Photo Journal: Brilliant blue

Local residents and volunteers admire the bright blue water inside a limestone cave in the town of Iwaizumi in Iwate Prefecture, during a free private viewing event on March 15, 2017. The cave, called Ryusendo, will reopen to the public on March 19, after having been closed due to damage from Typhoon Lionrock in August 2016. The stunning blue color of the water inside the cave is one of Ryusendo's particularly attractive features. Notably, Ryusendo is one of Japan's three great limestone caves, and typically attracts over a hundred thousand visitors each year. (Mainichi)
