Gifu bus painted with scenes from anime film phenomenon 'your name.'
(Mainichi Japan)
HIDA, Gifu -- An expressway bus with scenes from the blockbuster animated film "your name." painted on its exterior is running on four routes, between the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, where the film is set, and the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, Nagoya, and Gifu to lure fans of the films to the area.
The idea was conceived by the Hida Municipal Government, which turned to bus operator Nohi Noriai Jidosha Co. as a collaborator. The municipal government spent 1 million yen to have scenes from the film painted onto the sides and the back of one 38-person bus. In addition to protagonists Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana, the buses are colorfully painted with JR Hida-Furukawa Station, the steps that lead up to the local Keta Wakamiya Shrine, and a place that looks exactly like the Miyakawa Ochiai bus stop -- all featured in the smash-hit movie.
The bus is running between the Hida Furukawa or the Takayama bus station and the four cities mentioned above. For more information, refer to the Nohi Bus website: https://www.nouhibus.co.jp/english/.
