Photo Journal: Set for school

(Mainichi)

A giant raccoon dog statue dressed in a schoolgirl's outfit is seen in front of Shigaraki Kohgen Railway Co.'s Shigaraki Station in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, on March 25, 2017. The around 5-meter-tall statue has been changed into different clothes depending on the season by the Shigaraki Tourist Association since 2015. The current outfit reflects the upcoming start to the school year. Although the statue is supposed to be of a male raccoon dog, for now it wears a pink, cherry-blossom patterned skirt, which was designed by students at Shigaraki High School and made by students at Seian University of Art and Design. The statue will be sporting the outfit until mid-April. (Mainichi)
