Restorers work on the ceiling painting in the Asahi-no-Ma room in the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace, in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Aug. 10, 2017. It has been more than 40 years since the 8.25-meter by 5.15-meter painting was last restored, and it had started to deteriorate in recent years. The work is expected to take about two years. Akasaka Palace itself, now a designated national treasure, was completed in 1909 as the Crown Prince's residence, and converted into a state guest house in 1974. (Mainichi)
