The restored "shachihoko" roof ornaments from the earthquake-damaged tower of Kumamoto Castle are shown as they were put on public display in Kumamoto's Chuo Ward on Aug. 30, 2017. Two large shachihoko at a height of 119 centimeters and weighing 100 kilograms, and two smaller 86-centimeter, 70-kilogram statues were unveiled at the Wakuwakuza History and Cultural Experience facility at the foot of the castle. The facility is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and requires an admission fee. The large ornaments will be on display until the end of February 2018, while the smaller ones will stay until the end of August 2019. (Mainichi)
