Fortunes are inserted into sea bream charms and Dharma dolls at Atago Shrine in the city of Fukuoka in preparation for the New Year, as roughly 500,000 people are expected to visit the shrine around that period to wish for good luck for the year and offer prayers. Workers start preparing the fortune charms at around the end of August and the work continues until mid-November. (Mainichi)
