Photo Journal: Dried delicacies

Persimmons are hung out to dry at Iwanami Orchard in Koshu, Yamanashi Prefecture, on Nov. 10, 2017. The orange-colored fruit, a local specialty, will be dried vertically for about three weeks, and then horizontally for about one week -- after which they will be ready for sale. Many of the persimmons this year are smaller than usual due to lengthy spells of rain. However, the drying process is expected to enhance the flavor of the fruit. (Mainichi)
