Photo Journal: Eagerly awaiting revival

Women colorfully dressed in traditional folk dance attire for a local festival held for the first time since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 are seen in the town of Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, in this recent photo. Former residents who gathered for the festival flashed smiles despite the area being devastated by tsunami from the quake and the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Some children didn't participate in the festival due to concerns about bullying against those who evacuated from the area. With the seven year anniversary of the outbreak of the disaster approaching on March 11, the revival of the region still has a long way to go before the festival can return to its glory days.
