Photo Journal: Romantic farewell

Fans gather on July 10, 2018, at Shinjuku Station in Tokyo to see off the oldest model of the "Romancecar" limited express train on the Odakyu Line, as it makes its final regularly scheduled journey to the hot-spring resort of Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture. The old train, popular for its streamlined shape, has been providing luxurious trips to and from the famous area near Mount Fuji since 1980. Passengers can enjoy an expansive view from the wide windows in the front carriage while the driver sits above them on the second floor. Odakyu Electric Railway Co. decided to stop running the old train after increasing the numbers of its latest model trains that debuted in spring this year. Despite the end of regularly scheduled runs, the old Romancecar will still make some special trips through the end of the fiscal year. (Mainichi)
