Photo Journal: Celebrating cat stationmasters

Ryobi Holdings Chairman and CEO Mitsunobu Kojima holds cat stationmaster Nitama at Tama Cafe at Kishi Station on Wakayama Electric Railway's Kishigawa Line in the city of Kinokawa, Wakayama Prefecture, on Aug. 10, 2018, to commemorate the opening of a memorial photo exhibition for its cat stationmasters. A total of 27 photographs including one of the first cat stationmaster Tama wearing a Christmas costume and one taken of Nitama when it was young are on display at the cafe. The event was planned to commemorate the third anniversary of the opening of the "Tama Daimyojin" shrine dedicated to Tama on the platform of Kishi Station. Kojima said at the opening ceremony for the exhibition, "I'm very glad that cat employees protect local public transportation and show the world the good things of Japan. I hope many people will view the exhibition and support us." The exhibition will last until Sept. 2. (Mainichi)
