JAKARTA (Kyodo) -- The Japanese Olympic Committee is considering disciplining a player on the men's Asian Games basketball team for visiting a Jakarta entertainment district while wearing his team uniform, a source said Sunday.
"It isn't appropriate behavior for an athlete from the Japanese delegation," the source said, adding that the player under investigation has admitted to the facts in the case.
Japanese delegation chief Yasuhiro Yamashita has scheduled a press conference to address the issue on Monday.
The player was seen with the Japan team jersey while in the entertainment district following his team's 82-71 win over Qatar on Aug. 16.
The JOC intends to call an emergency meeting to warn other members of the delegations about appropriate behavior during the games.
