HIROSHIMA -- A mother was arrested here on Nov. 19 on suspicion of attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her two sons aged 5 and 3 at their home here in western Japan, police said.
The brothers were later confirmed dead, and the Hiroshima Prefectural Police's Higashihiroshima Police Station is investigating the case on suspicion of murder.
Ryoko Iwanaga, 31, a resident of the city of Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, allegedly stabbed her elder son Hayato and second son Sota in the back and other parts of their bodies several times at around 5 p.m. on Nov. 19.
According to the police station, Iwanaga called police at around 5:45 p.m. on the same day, saying, "I killed my two children." Police officers found the two boys on the floor of their house.
