NARA -- A sea of LED blue lights is decorating Nara Park and nearby paths for worshippers to local shrines and temples, in an event running until Feb. 14.

Lights adorn the paths to Kasugataisha Shrine, Kohfukuji Temple and Todaiji Temple, glowing with an azure blue themed after the precious stones that were once brought to Nara through the Silk Road. The annual event began in 2010.

The lights are turned on between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Additionally, the Nara National Museum, shrines and temples are being specially opened for the night. Food and drink stands are being set up in the park, and there will be a fireworks display on the final day from 7:30 p.m. The organizing committee can be reached at 0742-20-0214.
