Photo Journal: Radioactive soil storage

Workers use a crane to move bags of radioactively contaminated soil at a temporary holding area in Okuma, Fukushima Prefecture, on Feb. 24, 2016. The Ministry of the Environment opened the site to the media on Feb. 24, one year after its construction began. Bags of soil contaminated by the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant disaster are being stored at the site, which will accommodate a longer lasting midterm storage facility that has yet to be constructed.
