Photo Journal: Runaway success


Runners set out from the start line of the 71st Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon at Ojiyama Stadium in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, on March 6, 2016. Japanese runner Hisanori Kitajima came in second with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 16 seconds -- just five seconds behind winner Lucas Rotich of Kenya, who finished in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 11 seconds. The second-place finish on the 42.195-kilometer course guaranteed Kitajima a spot on Japan's team for the 2016 Rio Olympics. (Mainichi)
