Photo Journal: Snow going

A snow blower clears a path along the Hakkoda-Towada Gold Line road linking the Sukayu district in Aomori to the Yachi district in the Aomori Prefecture city of Towada on March 14, 2016. Work to reopen the stretch of National Route 103, which closed in November last year, began on Feb. 29, 2016 from the Aomori side and March 1 from the Towada side. The walls of snow are as high as 6 meters in some places this year, which is about 2 meters lower than the average year. A ceremony to mark the clearing of the route is planned for March 28 and a "Hakkoda Walk" allowing people to walk along the road is scheduled from March 29 to 31. (Mainichi)
