Yusuke Inoue, part of the successful comedy duo "NON STYLE," was questioned by police after allegedly crashing his car into a taxi in Tokyo in the late hours of Dec. 11, before driving away, the Mainichi Shimbun has learned.
The 36-year-old comedian, who previously won the M-1 Grand Prix comedy prize with NON STYLE in 2008, was questioned at Setagaya Police Station on suspicion of committing offences including violating the Road Traffic Law, police said on Dec.12.
The driver of the taxi, who is in his 40s, suffered minor neck and back injuries as a result of the collision. Inoue did not incur any injuries, and is said to have acknowledged the incident as a "hit-and-run" case.
According to police, Inoue stated, "I thought that I would end up in deep trouble if it became widely known that I had caused an accident."
