Photo Journal: Pink peak

Mount Fuji is seen tinted pink by the morning sun from Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi Prefecture, on Dec. 24, 2016. Called "Beni-Fuji," or "crimson Fuji," the pink-tinted Fuji is a winter sight that shows up in the morning and evening as the sun rises and sets, and lasts for about 10 minutes. On Dec. 24, starting at around 6:50 a.m., the mountain gradually began taking on the pinkish color, starting from its eastern side. (Mainichi)
