Trees covered with rime ice are seen on the peak of Mount Gozaisho in Komono, Mie Prefecture, on Jan. 26, 2017. Soft rime, which forms through water droplets freezing on tree branches, has become a common seasonal sight during winter on the 1,212-meter-high Mount Gozaisho. It can be only observed when certain conditions -- a temperature below zero degrees Celsius, a wind speed of at least 10 meters per second and humidity of 50 percent or higher -- are met, according to the mountain's ropeway operator. The winter wonderland scenery can be enjoyed until early March. (Mainichi)
