Photo Journal: Mustard maze

Young children navigate through a maze of mustard flowers in Minamisoma, Fukushima Prefecture. The bright yellow labyrinth was created by 44-year-old Takayuki Ueno, who lost his mother and eldest daughter in the March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, and whose father and eldest son remain missing. Ueno hopes the about 1.5-hectare maze he created on a plot near his former home will provide some comfort to others hit by the 2011 disasters, as they watch smiling children wend their way through the flowers.
