Photo Journal: Penguin parade

Magellanic penguins waddle out of their cage after making the roughly six-hour journey by truck from Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, to Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise in Yokohama's Kanazawa Ward on June 8, 2017. Yokohama will be their home until renovations to the Joetsu Municipal Aquarium -- managed by the Sea Paradise operator Yokohama Hakkeijima -- are completed in spring 2018. With the help of aquarium staff, the 82 penguins were urged from their cage down a 4-meter slope and into their new enclosure, where they promptly jumped into the water to shake off the fatigue from their long journey. The penguins can be seen at Sea Paradise's "Fureai Lagoon." (Mainichi)
