Riders decked out in samurai armor mount motorcycles before embarking on the "bike warrior army parade" on Aug. 13, 2017, in the town of Matsumae, Hokkaido. The 80-kilometer parade around the area is the main event of the "Matsumae Joka Jidai Matsuri" festival, which began 33 years ago to draw tourists to Hokkaido's only castle town. The motorbikes were introduced 25 years ago to show off the period armor throughout the entire town. Applications to take part in the popular parade come from all around the country, and this year, a total of 25 participants cruised around Matsumae to the cheers of delighted fans. (Mainichi)
