Bonkers for bonsai: Promotional video wins two prizes at int'l festival

TAKAMATSU -- A promotional video highlighting the charms of pine bonsai trees here for a worldwide audience won top prizes in two categories of the 2017 Hollywood Dreamz International Film Festival and Writers Awards held in Las Vegas at the end of August .

    The film festival called for independently made videos from around the world, and "Japanese Bonsai Exercise," performed by 9-year-old Nao Osato and directed by Shiho Kozai, won the awards for "Best Music Video" and "Best Young Performer." The two reported their awards to the Takamatsu Municipal Government on Sept. 4.

    In the video, the group "Bonkura," composed of Osato and three other women, dance with bonsai decorations in their hair, explaining the traditional plants and how to care for them as well as promoting the city of Takamatsu. Osato's dream is to become a Hollywood actress, and she is one step closer to her dream after showcasing her extraordinary talent in the video.
