Photo Journal: When pumpkins fly...

"Flying pumpkins" ready for harvest are seen in a greenhouse in Naganuma, Hokkaido, in this recent photo. Because they never touch the ground, these pumpkins tend to have a consistent color, shape and taste. There are eight farms in Hokkaido's Sorachi district growing the hanging pumpkins. The harvest will last until around Sept. 20, with a projected yield of some 10,000. (Mainichi)
