Photo Journal: First to the booth

An 18-year-old high school student casts an early vote for the Oct. 22 general election in Minoh, Osaka Prefecture, on Oct. 11, 2017. With early voting for the election kicking off on this day, and this particular polling station opening earlier than anywhere else -- at 6:30 a.m. -- the student was the first person in the country to vote in the election. Commenting on being first to the booth, the girl said, "I was nervous putting my voting slip into an empty box, but it was easier than expected." (Mainichi)
