Masaru Wakasa, a core member of the Party of Hope founded by Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike, was defeated in the Tokyo No. 10 constituency in the Oct. 22 House of Representatives election.
Wakasa was defeated by Hayato Suzuki, who ran on the ticket of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. The Tokyo No. 10 constituency had been an electoral power base for Koike when she was a member of the lower house.
Wakasa also failed to make a comeback in the lower chamber through the proportional representation vote.
