San Francisco accepts 'comfort women' statue donation; 3rd in US

SAN FRANCISCO -- The city assembly here voted unanimously on Nov. 14 to accept a citizen group's donation of a statue commemorating wartime "comfort women."

The decision by the Board of Supervisors will make San Francisco the third U.S. city to install a comfort women statue on public land, following Glendale, California, and Brookhaven, Georgia. The two latter statues were both proposed by Korean-American groups.
