Photo Journal: Soaking it all up

A Japanese macaque enjoys a dip in hot spring water at Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden in Hakodate, Hokkaido, in this recent photo. The facility brings in hot water from the local Yunokawa hot springs to an 18-square-meter pool at the garden and about 80 Japanese snow monkeys in captivity take turns bathing. The event has been introduced to foreign tourists through newspapers abroad and some foreigners visit Hakodate to see the monkeys. Visitors can enjoy watching the monkeys bathe through May.
