MYOKO, Niigata -- Two men who went missing while snowboarding on a slope outside the designated area were rescued in the predawn hours on Jan. 3, police said.
The two men, a 34-year-old from Chiba Prefecture and a 41-year-old from Ibaraki Prefecture, were transported to a hospital due to fears of hypothermia. Their conditions are not life-threatening.
The two men went missing on Jan. 2 during back-country snowboarding at the Lotte Arai Resort skiing ground in Myoko, Niigata Prefecture. They were found safe by a worker at the skiing ground when they managed to return to the proper course at around 3 a.m. on Jan. 3, according to local police.
