Figure skating star and Sochi Olympic gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu has resumed practicing on ice, Japan Skating Federation director Yoshiko Kobayashi said on Jan. 16.

In November last year, Hanyu injured the lateral ligament in his right ankle during practice for the NHK Trophy and pulled out of the event. Despite not competing in the national championships last month, the 23-year-old skater has been selected as a member of the Japanese national team for the Pyeongchang Olympics.
