Photo Journal: Cheerful tulips

Children view colorful tulips in full bloom at the "Nabana no Sato" Flower Park in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, in this recent photo. About 1.8 million tulips of roughly 200 species, occupying about 43,000 square meters of the site, reportedly reached full bloom about 10 days earlier than average due to the warm spring weather in late March. The tulips are also lit up at night. At the same park, a bed of violas and herbs is designed to look like the popular Kumamoto Prefecture promotional mascot "Kumamon" to encourage residents in disaster areas following the Kumamoto Earthquake. The tulips can be enjoyed until around April 15. (Mainichi)
