Photo Journal: Special spring treat

Invited guests enjoy viewing cherry blossoms at a special event on the premises of the Japan Mint in Osaka's Kita Ward on April 10, 2018, a day before the site is opened to the public. Every year the facility invites elderly and handicapped people so they can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms in an uncongested setting. At this year's event, 349 cherry trees of 134 types are lined up from the south gate to north gate over about 560 meters. According to the Japan Mint, now is the best time to view the flowers at the site. About 2,500 elderly and handicapped people enjoyed taking photographs and eating picnic lunches under the trees. The facility is opened to the public for this event from April 11 to 17, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (On Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.) (Mainichi)
