Photo Journal: Ready to charm

Five capybara babies born on April 6, 2018 to Roko and Moko at Aloha Garden Tateyama in the city of Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, are seen on April 9. The pups are doing well and will go on display to the public on April 14. Aloha Garden was opened in September 2014, succeeding Nanbo Paradise after it shut down. Roko and Moko, which came to the facility from a zoo in the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture, give birth to around five pups each year. With the addiction of the newborns, their total offspring at the facility totaled 14. Capybaras have a calm character and even human infants can feed them. Visitors to Aloha Garden often enjoy watching capybaras eating their favorite bamboo grass. (Mainichi)
