Photo Journal: Tough twins

Two "Series 189" trains that will be decommissioned later this month are seen at East Japan Railway Co.'s Toyoda depot in Hino, Tokyo, on April 19, 2018. Series 189 trains were produced in the mid-1970s for the "Asama" limited express service between Ueno Station in Tokyo and Nagano, and were designed to climb the steep slope near Usui Pass between Gunma and Nagano prefectures with the help of powerful electric locomotives.
