Photo Journal: Cool heads

Children stand under cold running water to cool their bodies at Kasai Rinkai Park in Tokyo's Edogawa Ward on April 22, 2018, as high temperatures hit the area. The Japanese archipelago soaked up the sun due to a high pressure system and high temperatures were experienced across wide areas, from the Tohoku to Tokai regions. In the Kanto region, the temperature rose over 30 degrees Celsius for the first time this year and hit 30.8 degrees in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture. In central Tokyo, the temperature reached 28.3 degrees, close to the average for July and August. (Mainichi)
