Photo Journal: Hometown heroines

Sisters Nana Takagi, 25, left, and Miho Takagi, 23, show off the five medals they won at speed skating events at the Pyeongchang Olympics during a parade in their hometown of Makubetsu, Hokkaido, on April 22, 2018. According to the local municipal government, about 18,000 fans attended the event. The sisters were paraded in an open car through the town over about a 1-kilometer route. Nana and Miho briefly left the vehicle during the procession to exchange high fives with children. After the parade, Nana said, "Such support helped me win the medals." Miho added, "I'm happy to see people in my hometown." (Mainichi)
