Photo Journal: Streamlined show

Colorful carp streamers are seen at the National Art Center, Tokyo in the capital's Roppongi district ahead of the Children's Day holiday on May 5. At the exhibition, titled, "Koinobori (carp streamers) now!" some 319 streamers made from Japanese fabrics hang from the ceiling. Designer Reiko Sudo, 64, created the carp streamers. The exhibition also has sections where visitors can view and touch cloth from about 80 regions across Japan, or make mini carp streamers. Commenting on the event, Sudo said, "I would like visitors to know the appeal of Japanese textiles." The exhibition runs until May 28. The facility is closed on Tuesdays except May 1. Admission is free. (Mainichi)
