The departure lobby of Narita International Airport in Narita, Chiba Prefecture, is crowded with travellers set to spend the "Golden Week" holidays in foreign countries, on April 28, 2018. People formed long lines in front of check-in counters and security points.
According to Narita International Airport Corp. (NAA), about 56,000 people will depart from the airport on the day, the highest number of any day during Golden Week. NAA expects that about 450,000 people will head abroad from the airport from April 27 to May 6 this year, 6.9 percent more than in same period in 2017.
Hong Kong, South Korea and Hawaii are popular destinations. Return travel traffic will peak on May 6. (Mainichi)
