4 cops struggle to 'apprehend' giant tortoise on the loose in Tokyo suburb

AKISHIMA, Tokyo -- Four local police officers struggled to take into custody a giant tortoise that was on a leisurely stroll with a smaller tortoise in a residential area here, it was revealed on April 30.

    Video of the hilarious incident shows four officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Akishima Police Station struggling to place the huge tortoise in a patrol car as local children cheered them on.

    According to the police station, it received an emergency call at around 3 p.m. on April 30 reporting that there was a large tortoise on the loose near a park in Akishima. The tortoise, about 70 centimeters in length, is believed to be a pet and police are looking for its owner. A police station spokesperson said, "The tortoise looks like it weighs at least 30 kilograms. It's the first time I've seen such a huge tortoise."
