A total of 1,824 participants including members of the MPD's security squad, emergency rescue team and bomb disposal unit took part in the parade. MPD Superintendent General Naomasa Yoshida told participants, "The riot police should play a central role in making this the safest city in the world and guaranteeing public order during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. I want to see the establishment of a powerful riot police unit that can respond to all kinds of situations." (Mainichi)
