TOKYO -- The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is set to announce on June 14 the cancellation of joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises set for August, according to a report by CNN.

Trump stated after his June12 summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that the joint military exercises would be suspended during ongoing denuclearization talks with North Korea. The move was met with some confusion within the U.S. government at the time, with one Defense Department official telling CNN on that day that they had received no instructions on whether the joint exercises would be cancelled or continue as planned.
