Photo Journal: Down-to-earth drill

Astronaut Norishige Kanai of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency undergoes rehabilitation to recover muscular strength and a sense of equilibrium in the city of Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, on June 15, 2018. Kanai, 41, returned to Earth aboard a Soyuz spacecraft on June 3 after working at the International Space Station for roughly 5 1/2 months. He came back to Japan on June 13 after rehabilitation in the United States and started exercises in Japan on June 14. After training on an exercise bike on June 15, he stretched and exercised using balls with specialists for about an hour. "It's intriguing that my body is so inflexible just from being free from gravity for half a year," he said. (Mainichi)
