Imperial Couple attend Mainichi charity concert for children with cancer

Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko attended a charity concert for children who are suffering from cancer and their families at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on June 25.

Some 2,000 children and their families listened to a performance by popular singer Shinji Tanimura. The music event is part of a campaign to fight childhood cancer. Tanimura received a large round of applause from the audience as he sang popular tunes by his band Alice.

The concert was organized by the Mainichi Newspapers and other supporters.
