'Mottainai' crowdfunding campaign seeks donations following torrential rain in Japan
(Mainichi Japan)
TOKYO -- In response to widespread flooding and landslide damage following heavy rains in western Japan, a crowdfunding site operated by The Mainichi Newspapers Co. and other organizations launched a disaster relief donation campaign on July 11.
Donors need to register with the website "MOTTAINAI Motto" (https://mottainai-motto.jp/), in Japanese, which The Mainichi Newspapers Co. and other organizations run, to send relief donations through the campaign, labeled as "Western Japan heavy rain disaster relief donations." The full amount, excluding the credit-card transaction fee, will be transferred to the Mainichi Shimbun Tokyo Shakai Jigyodan (Mainichi Welfare Foundation).
